Relationships, particularly love relationships, play a vital role in our lives. Feeling loved contributes to one's sense of wellbeing, while falling in love brings heartfelt joy. Differences in background, worldview and status quo are often sources of conflict between lovers and spouses. The worst-case scenario, perhaps, is an failed attempt at impressing a love interest. And we know well the negative impact brought by the vicious cycle of stress and relationship issues.
Relationship consultation has emerged as a new option for those seeking advice on love relationship and marriage. Not long ago we could only go to counsellors (who were possibly therapists too) and relationship coaches. Relationship/marriage counselling involves a long, costly, and laborious process that lasts for 3 to 6 months. It suits individuals or couples with relatively serious issues (e.g. major depression, addictions, dysfunctional families) but not the majority of potential advisees. Relationship coaching adopts a general and client-based approach, yet most programs were offered by those with self-proclaimed titles and very little professional training in the relevant fields. In the light of this, Retta is eager to offer minority-friendly relationship consultation services to fill the existing gap in the market:
1. General Consultations: Worldviews, verbal/non-verbal communication, emotions and mental health, influence of primary family, past relationships, third persons, children (of partner/spouse). For individuals and couples. Assessment tools: Couple Checkup™ or T-JTA®.
2. Pre-marital Program: Preparing for married life, i.e. exploring each other's worldview, influence of primary family and communication style, identifying best practices for interactions after marriage. For couples only. Assessment tools: T-JTA® or PREPARE/ENRICH.
3. Post-marital Program: Exploring challenges in married life while seeking solutions that promote each other's personal growth. For couples only. Assessment tools: T-JTA® or PREPARE/ENRICH.
